History
As a percussion duo, Andrés and Christian have collaborated with artists throughout the U.S. as well as internationally. They have performed at various venues in the city of Philadelphia, such as the Philadelphia Clef Club, the Painted Bride Art Center, World Cafe Live, FringeArts, and the Penn Museum, as well as being featured guest percussionists at the San Carlos Institute in Key West, Florida. They also play a prominent role in continuing the tradition of Rumba nights in Philadelphia, often hosted at IMPeRFeCT Gallery in Germantown.
Since the year 2010, Andrés and Christian have been working diligently as freelance percussionists and teaching artists. They currently work giving private classes, group classes, as well as individually working in several schools in the city of Philadelphia. Through TIMBALONA’S investigative research travels across Latin America, they apply what they learn to their evolving percussion curriculum. As musicians and investigators of Caribbean and Latin music, TIMBALONA continues to spread their mission of unity, community building, and cultural exchanges through their music.
